Architecture

While growing up I planned on being an architect. All through school, I took drafting and art classes to prepare me, then I went to university. I started with the basic architecture classes my first two years, including the history of architecture. I remember I was taking an ancient Roman class, studying how the Colosseum and the Forum in Rome were built, when I realized I loved studying how buildings were built much more than how I could build more of them in the future. That is when I discovered my calling to archaeology. All through my archaeological career, I kept my passion for architecture by focusing on the structures of past people. I have worked on pueblos and pit houses in the southwest, even writing my thesis on them, and continued by studying historic era buildings, including pioneer hydroelectric plants and houses. Today, I still love architecture. They can be a cute English bungalow, a classic tudor house, a mid-century modern, an old European town, or the Roman Forum. Whether they be a residential house, modern city, or a historic settlement, I appreciate the details that went into creating them.
